Stop Selling, Start Connecting

Here’s a little truth bomb I’ve learned over the years in this business and that’s people don’t like to be sold. The moment they sense a pitch coming, their inner defense system kicks in, and boom, they’re mentally halfway out the door before you even finish your sentence.
I don’t blame them. I’m the same way.
That’s why I made a conscious decision a long time ago to stop selling and start connecting.
If you’ve ever worked with me, attended one of my events, or even had coffee together, you’ve seen how I show up. Casual, real, and genuinely curious about you. Sometimes we talk shop, sometimes we talk about travel or what’s streaming on Netflix. It’s about the connection, not the close.
I also host Zoom calls with guest speakers and info-packed sessions because I love bringing value to people in my network. Whether it's industry updates, marketing tips, or just solid professional advice, I want folks to walk away with something useful (and maybe a laugh or two).
And of course, there’s my Digital Boot Camp. The Bootcamp is where I roll up my sleeves and hand over the exact tools and strategies that have helped me build my business. Not by selling. By serving, staying visible and being consistent. And yes, by being a little bit gutsy.
Everything I do, every referral I receive, every client I’ve gained, it’s all rooted in connection. I build trust, listen, and show up. That’s the magic formula. It’s not transactional, it’s relational.
So, if you’re feeling like sales is a chore, or like you’re forcing something that just doesn’t feel right, maybe it’s time to shift gears. Be human and be helpful. Be YOU. People will feel that energy, and trust me, they’ll respond to it.
I stopped selling and started connecting. And it made all the difference.
