I can’t say that I always knew that I would be a small business owner, however once I saw what owning a business entailed, I just knew it was for me. As for insurance, at first, I didn’t completely understand how perfect the industry was for my unique talents, but once I started, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
I Like Helping People
I know that some people consider insurance a “necessary evil” but I don’t think of it quite that way. I believe that I’m giving my clients the peace of mind they need to sleep soundly at night and to rest comfortably knowing they are protected against any of the detours that life can throw in our way.
I Like a Challenge
Owning your own business is not for everyone and it can be challenging but I know that’s one of the things I love best. I like taking on complex situations and seeing how many “balls” I can juggle at one time and still keep them all in the air. If that sounds like you, then I would say owning a business is right in your wheelhouse.
I Like Flexibility
As crazy as it may seem because I do work so very hard, I consider myself to have quite a bit of flexibility in running my Agency and because I LOVE to travel, that’s one of the best perks of owning my own business. I have never needed anyone to “tell” me what to do or how hard to work. I’m self-driven and self-motivated and these qualities help me to carve out my “flex-time.”
Of course, I’d be entirely remiss if I didn’t mention that my CLIENTS are the best part of being a small business. I know a good percentage of the people who do business with us and the fact that they look to us for protection, service, and help is humbling.
Most of all, it keeps me going through the long and difficult days when my eyes are bleary. Even then I must say that I love what I do!
