Snow, Ice & Surprise Claims. Let Me, Not The Storm, Be Your Wake-Up Call

Every winter without fail my phone starts ringing a little more often. A frozen pipe, a car sliding on black ice and crashing into a parked car, or the tree branch that didn't survive the weight of heavy snow. I've heard them all. Harsh winter weather has a way of reminding us just how quickly things can change.

Most people start thinking about their insurance after something happens and

it’s completely understandable because when life is busy, insurance tends to move into the background. You assume you’re covered, everything is fine, and hope you’ll never actually need to use it, that is until winter shows up with other plans.

Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more unpredictable. One bad storm and insurance suddenly becomes front and center, but the best protection doesn’t happen during a crisis, it happens long before the storm arrives. This time of year is actually the perfect reminder to ask yourself a few simple questions:

• Do I have the right coverage limits for today’s replacement costs?

• Have home values or renovations changed my needs?

• Are my deductibles aligned with what I could realistically handle?

• Does my auto coverage reflect how and how often I’m driving now?

• Am I protected against weather-related risks common in our area?

One of the things I care most about in my work is helping people feel confident that they’re protected before something goes wrong. Insurance shouldn’t feel confusing, it should feel like having a knowledgeable partner in your corner who helps you stay one step ahead, and that’s how I approach every client relationship. I want to be your go-to resource, not just when you need to file a claim, but when you want guidance or a second opinion.

If I’m not the right person or solution for a specific situation, I will always point you in the right direction. Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with professionals across many specialties, and I’m happy to make recommendations when needed because protecting your home, your family, and your financial well-being matters more than any single policy.

Winter weather reminds us that uncertainty is part of life. Preparation is how we manage it, so before the next storm warning pops up on your phone, consider taking a proactive step. A quick coverage review today can prevent stress, surprises, and unnecessary expense tomorrow. Think of it less as “checking insurance” and more as making sure your safety net is exactly where it should be.

If you’d like to ask questions, or simply understand your options better, I’m always happy to have that conversation. Stay warm, safe, and always prepared.
