Do you meditate?
I’ve come to view meditation as an integral part of my day, the time that allows my mind to quiet and for me to “let things go.” There are not many parts of my day that enable me to do just that.
As a single Mom of two young girls and the owner of a busy Allstate insurance agency, my days are hectic. When you throw in my attempts to have a social life, things can spiral out of control.
I’m never brought to my knees by the pace, but sometimes it is just too much, and that’s where meditation works well to alleviate my stress and anxiety.
I find that I need just ten minutes and really, who doesn’t have ten minutes to get centered and improve how they feel? But it’s not only stress and anxiety, although that would certainly be enough.
I find that meditation also helps me to be more aware and in tune with the people that comprise my life, whether it’s friends, family, co-workers, or my significant other. The pandemic has brought a level of stress to most everyone’s life and as a result of my meditation practice, I find that I am better able to receive the cues I get from others.
Another value-add is that my sleep has improved and given the frenetic nature of my days, a good night’s sleep is a blessing. Throw in the fact that I generally feel more alert, and I guess you could say that I’m a true believer.
I know it may not be for everyone, but it would be beneficial to give it a chance. There are many apps that can help you through a guided meditation and help get you started on what might just be a game-changer for your life.
