Embracing Gratitude

I have a steady diet of gratitude.

What do I mean?

Well, being grateful for what I have, the big things and the little that we seem to take for granted, helps me to see my way through good days, and the less-than-good days.

It's not merely a fleeting emotion; it's a way of life, a mindset that has shaped my experiences and perceptions in profound ways.

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to lose sight of the blessings that surround us. But through practicing gratitude, I've discovered that even amidst the chaos, there is so much to be thankful for.

Gratitude is the key to happiness. It's not about waiting for the perfect moment or circumstance to feel grateful; it's about finding reasons to be thankful in every moment, no matter how small. Whether it's the warmth of the morning sun streaming through the window or the laughter of my girls filling my home, there is always something to be grateful for.

Moreover, gratitude has helped me keep perspective in the face of adversity. As a single mom, there are inevitably moments of doubt and uncertainty, times when the weight of responsibility feels overwhelming. But by taking a step back and acknowledging the blessings in my life, I'm reminded that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and resilience.

I don’t want to make it sound like it is always easy because it’s not, but like any habit, once you get into the rhythm of doing it, it becomes a part of your life.

Beyond its personal impact, gratitude has also inspired me to give back to others in meaningful ways. Whether through volunteering at local community events, fundraising for causes close to my heart, or simply offering a helping hand to those in need, I've found that there is immense joy in serving others. In giving of ourselves, we not only make a difference in the lives of others but also cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude for our own blessings.

I've come to realize that gratitude is not just a passive sentiment; it's a call to action. It's about showing up for others, sharing our time, resources, and knowledge to uplift those around us. I truly believe that every act of kindness has the power to ripple outwards and create positive change in the world.

Showing gratitude each day, in both big and small ways, has enriched my life in ways I never thought possible. From expressing appreciation to my colleagues for their support to taking a moment to savor the simple pleasures of life, cultivating a spirit of gratitude has made each day more satisfying and fulfilling.

Gratitude helps us to find joy in the present moment, cherish the relationships that enrich our lives, and find meaning in the seemingly mundane.

Your parents or grandparents might have told you to “count your blessings” and I know that I regularly say that to my girls.

By “walking the talk” I know that my words have impact.

Do you have a gratitude practice?
