It’s kind of difficult to believe, but here we are on the cusp of the New Year.
But first, we have Thanksgiving, and for that I am grateful.
For me, Thanksgiving has always been a day to spend with friends and family, eat copious amounts of good food, and relax and reflect upon how blessed we are.
I know this year we will do the same, however, my intention has always been to recognize my blessings and be thankful not just on Thanksgiving, but every day.
Let me give you an example of what I mean:
I am thankful for my beautiful children, my family, and my partner. They are my life and make me whole.
I am thankful for my wonderful Allstate team, because I know that I couldn’t run my agency without them.
I am thankful for my home, the heat and air-conditioning that keep us cool or cozy, regardless of the weather outside.
I am thankful for easy access to nutritious food that helps us to stay healthy.
I am thankful for my appliances that make “life” so much easier. (Let’s hear it for the dishwasher, washing machine and dryer!)
I am thankful for my car, that enables me to get my girls to their activities AND allows us time to talk and catch up.)
You see, saying thanks and being grateful for the “stuff” that comprises our everyday life is something that is a learned skill. We tend to take these things for granted and we shouldn’t.
Thanksgiving provides us a perfect opportunity to do a reboot and start a daily practice of recognizing our blessings and saying thanks.
Start now so that saying thanks will be a regular part of your day. You’ll find that the heightened awareness of all that you have will make these things even more special and sweet.
